Domain Hacking - Getting the Name You Want

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day (who is also a fellow internet marketer), when the subject of domain hacking came up. No, not that kind of hacking. Let me explain. Domain hacking is using letters in domain extenstions (.com, .net, etc) and subdomains to your advantage.

Let me show you a well-known example of domain hacking in action: del.icio.us

Notice how they make use of the letters in both the subdomain (del) and domain extension (.us) to form a recognizable word? They form this domain name by “hacking” (think splitting with an axe) up a keyword. It’s pretty clever, and a lot of people don’t think to do that when they’re searching for domains names.

Since not many people think like this, you can use domain hacking in almost any niche to still grab some nice looking names.

I’m sure you can all connect the dots from here, so I’m not going to ramble on about in some long ass, winded post. Just keep it in mind the next time you purchase a domain name, and you might be able to get some better names than you thought if you’re willing to think a little outside the box.
